ABRAHAMSON-DAY FAMILY
ABRAHAMSON-DAY FAMILY

Reunions

Greetings all! The Abrahamson-Day Reunion of 2009 was a great success. I don't have a final tally yet, but I think we had somewhere between 120 and 130 people attend. We had 65 adults and 3 children join us from Norway. These are descendants of Abe Abrahamson's brothers and sisters who remained in Norway. It was fantastic to meet this wonderful group of people. They had many interesting things to discuss about Norway and the things they've observed here in America. Many were in America for the first time. After leaving the Black Hills they will be continuing their visit going North through Bowman, visiting Abe's homestead and LeRoy's farm. Then on to Medora and East through North Dakota, visiting several historical sites and museums. Then back through Minnesota where they will conclude their visit. I hope they have safe travels and enjoy the rest of their trip.

The auction was extremely successful. We had many home made items, including jams, knitting, woodworking, baked goods, and crocheted items. We had many other donated items like wine, toys, drawings, and picnic and gift baskets. The family from Norway brought many beautiful handmade items including an afghan, embroidered wall hanging, a hardanger piece, crocheted doillies, knitted slippers and crocheted potholders with the Norwegian flag. We also had a Norway soccer jersey that brought in a high price. I want to thank everyone for all of the donated items, as well as the bids they brought in.

Thanks to everyone for making this reunion a great success. We couldn't have done it without everyone's help. A special thanks to Justin and his   family for providing the meals. It was a huge job, and they handled it well.

We hope to see everyone and more at the next reunion. Details on the next reunion have not been decided. If you are interested in helping to organize the next reunion, please contact me.
